Plant Audit & Optimization

We are able to help all customers with their Operations & Maintenance Optimization Program (O&M) covering analysis of process, failure, reliability and oil. We have carried out 4 O&M contracts for national power plant in Indonesia.

All process industries require some form of plant performance monitoring. In addition to the healthcheck function, performance monitoring more importantly serves to guide appropriate operational and maintenance activities to ensure that plants are optimized and continuously performing to expectations. At the management level, high level targets are set on a monthly or annual basis which are based on past performance appraisal and external benchmarking. These targets are then translated to plant targets which drive plant adjustments and maintenance activities. At the operational level this cycle repeats daily.

Most established process industries should already have such systems or at least some of the elements in place. However getting the organization and work flow aligned to achieve the daily “monitor and optimize” objective remains largely elusive. There can be multiple reasons for these difficulties. Monitoring models may not be consistent with management targets or online advanced control and optimization systems. There could be a lack of clarity on required operator actions to close gaps between actual and targets.

When deviations from target are not expressed in monetary terms, priority setting and incentive to correct such deviations become highly judgemental. Real time plant information may not be complete or accurate enough to be used in an automated manner - a significant amount of manual manipulation is therefore required. This takes up resources and causes delays in results feedback to be used for daily operational decision making. Operational and Engineering buy-in to use this system reduces and usually the well intended plant performance monitoring and optimization system reduces to a management information system that only serves a reporting function.

With a technical team of dedicated and qualified consultants who are very knowledgeable in their chosen field of expertise ranging from Reliability Engineers (certified Vibration Specialists by the Vibration Institute in USA), Turbine Engineers, Instrumentation & Controls Engineers, Process Engineers, etc., we are able to help customers achieve substantial savings and this savings is shared between our customers and us.

However, before proposing for a total reliability O&M contract, we would need to carry out a plant assessment first to establish the following parameters : -Is your plant performing as good as it should be ? -If not, do you know why and where ? -Do you know what can be done ? -Do you know how much improvement can be recovered ? -Do you know how much it is costing you ?
